The box I received is slightly damp. Why is that?
Since the pods contain liquid coffee, the changes in temperature during transportation can cause condensation and hence some dampness.
We had an easy fix available in that we could have used a laminated box. However, lamination involves the use of plastic, hence this option would have reduced the recyclability of the box.
We opted to have a 100% recyclable paper box and tray. We are sure you will agree that a bit of dampness is small price to pay for environmentally friendly packaging. The damp, of course, does not have any implications for the quality of the product.

What are Caffè di Artisan single serve liquid coffee pods?
Caffè di Artisan pods contain luxury liquid coffee that is artisanally and slowly extracted from freshly roasted and ground coffee beans, using our unique micro-filtery process that marries artisanal processes with cutting edge Food Tech, utilizing Laws of Thermodynamics.
Our fine coffee is then packaged and delivered directly to you in convenient liquid single shot pods.
Our liquid coffee pods use no preservatives at all... just pure, exquisite coffee.
No need to use machines to make your coffee anymore - we have taken the machines out of the equation!
It is not Instant Coffee. It is not cold brew. It is a new tech altogether to make gourmet coffee.
Why is Caffè di Artisan's coffee superior to machine-produced coffee?
Espresso coffee is prepared by passing super hot and super high-pressure water through coffee grounds. This, however, essentially kills the soul of the coffee grounds. Imagine what happens when you pass scalding hot water, at high pressure, through the delicate coffee grounds: the powder gets burnt and the high pressure ends up over-extracting the coffee from the grounds, resulting in coffee that is bitter.
Great coffee is strong, zesty, flavourful, however it doesn't have to be bitter - but that's what espresso makers have convinced us to believe because they can only produce over-extracted and bitter coffee, whose subtle notes have been strangled by the violence of the high-heat and high-pressure extraction process.
Can you produce wine by crushing grapes in a machine to get instant wine?
Obviously not. You simply can't hasten greatness. Great drinks take time to reach perfection. At Caffè di Artisan, we roast and grind the coffee beans fresh for every single pod! No coffee maker in the world can do that.
The grounds are then lovingly, gently and slowly extracted via our unique micro-filtery process where we artisanally squeeze out the last usable drop of coffee elixir to produce divine single-shot liquid coffee - packing in all its natural notes, oils and sweetness.
In fact, making coffee was, traditionally, a slow process. The espresso machine was patented in 1884 to industrialise the process – to make gallons of coffee quickly. It was an ugly short-cut.
Caffè di Artisan brings back the romance of coffee. We coax the flavour our of the coffee beans, but for you it is magically effortless:
You just have to pour the liquid luxury coffee from Caffè di Artisan's single shot pod into a cup (Here's how) and froth it, then add frothed hot/ cold milk/ hot water, pour it into the cup to mix with the coffee. Your world's finest Espresso, Latté, Cappuccino, Machhiato, Frappé is ready in less than 60 Seconds. You will find that Caffè di Artisan's coffee is strong, zesty, has great attitude, but is never bitter.
How is Caffè di Artisan's coffee different from instant coffee?
Let us just say that the two are like chalk and cheese.
Instant coffee is just a mix of wood husk and the cheapest and lowest quality Robusta coffee seed powder, made by an extremely harsh extraction process that destroys almost all the flavours and fragrances inherent in the coffee.
The solution is then artificially infused with coffee aroma and either freeze-dried or spray-dried, creating crystals or a powdery substance that you know as instant coffee.
At Caffè di Artisan, the entire process, right from the selection of the water that goes into our coffee, the beans, the roasting, the grinding, and finally the distillation of divine single-shot liquid coffee through our micro-filtery, is artisanal.
We select only the finest Arabica coffee seeds for curated acidity and flavour, which are then roasted to our specifications by our master coffee roasters, ensuring that most of the flavour and fragrance of the coffee beans is gently extracted to give you the taste of real coffee.
Caffè di Artisan is not Cold Brew
Caffè di Artisan is not Cold Brew. Cold Brew involves steeping beans in cold water for several hours.
Caffè di Artisan's tech is completely different.
Our Food-tech micro filtery uses several extremely advanced principles of Fluid Mechanics, to extract over days.
Further, the extraction parameters for each bean type is completely different, because the chemical and moisture composition of every bean varietal is different.
The same process simply doesn't work for every bean type.
The Caffè di Artisan method is extremely complex.
But for you, it's magically easy and effortless.
And therein lies the magic.
Which machine do I need to make Caffè di Artisan coffee?
None at all! That's the essential beauty of Caffè di Artisan's liquid single shot pods: they are freshly extracted and packaged for you. All you need to do is to pour the liquid shot into a cup, froth it lightly for 1-2 seconds (Here's how) add hot / cold foamed milk/ hot water (as desired) using the same free Frother that comes to you with your first order, and voila!
Within 60 seconds or less, you now have the best Espressos, Americanos, Lattés, Cappuccinos, Macchiatos, even Frappés in the world!
The Trouble with Coffee Machines
Recent studies by the University of Valencia conducted on Nespresso machines showed alarming levels of germs (including E.coli) in the machines (click here). The same was confirmed by another study by the University of Chicago. Coffee machines also attract algae, mold and even cockroaches, and have actually been called 'the germiest place in the house'. Ugh...
In addition, all coffee machines require extensive cleaning, descaling, troubleshooting and replacement, not to mention counter space.
Plus all coffee machines degrade over time. Why? Because coffee oils keep coating, layer upon layer, the internal pipes of a coffee machine.
As we all know, oils become rancid. And this rancid oil residue then keeps getting mixed with every shot of coffee produced (since the coffee is very hot, the oils melt and mix with the fresh shot being made). That's why the coffee made by machines starts deteriorating in taste over time.
What's worse, this coffee plus rancid oil mix gives you acidity and gastric irritation. So if you thought that coffee gave you gastric problems, the trouble lay not in the coffee, but in the machine used to make it.
Why do we need to go through all these hassles to get what is one of the real pleasures in life - A Great Cup of Coffee?
Caffè di Artisan is committed to sustainability, community and to minimizing the environmental impact of its product, packaging and process. This has been a key element of our business from sourcing to the production process to the product design for end-use.
Are Caffè di Artisan's liquid coffee pods and other packaging environmentally friendly?
Yes! Not only do we use 100% fully recyclable, food grade PET, Bisphenol A (BPA)-free pods, our pods are now fully biodegradable. Read about it here.
Not only is PET recyclable, it is the most widely recycled plastic there is. This is in contrast to almost all machine capsules that are made of hard non-recyclable plastics or aluminum, which takes enormous energy for recycling.
The other parts of our packaging, the aluminium foil, the paper box and tray are all widely recyclable.
We have deliberately not laminated our boxes as lamination prevents/reduces recycling. This choice means that occasionally the Caffè di Artisan box received by you may be slightly damp due to condensation during transport. This issue could have been easily addressed by laminating the box, but we chose to opt for a fully recyclable box.
We are sure you will agree that this minor issue is small price to pay to ensure environmentally friendly packaging. Incidentally, the box dries out really fast and the product quality is not impacted at all!
What preservatives and chemicals does Caffè di Artisan use?
None whatsoever! What you get is pure, liquid coffee elixir containing only pure water and premium coffee beans. That's it. No preservatives. No chemicals.
What are the by-products of the production process and how are they disposed off?
No chemicals or effluents are generated as part of the production process. The only byproduct are coffee grounds that are compostable.
Used coffee grounds are rich in Nitrogen, which is one of the three important nutrient components of an effective fertilizer. Worms love used coffee grounds and turn them into 'black gold' for plants.
How does Caffè di Artisan plan to reduce its carbon footprint?
As Caffè di Artisan's production process is artisanal, the power consumption is also kept to a minimum. The power consumption is significantly lower than what would be the case in most other packaged coffee production processes, reducing the environmental load and carbon footprint. We are also committed to increasing the proportion of renewable energy sources in the power consumption.
Plus, of course, the "Without Machines" tech of the product means that there is no additional power consumed by the end consumer either, unlike in machine made coffees.
Please note that a single coffee machine uses half a million watts of power a year. Multiply that by the number of coffee machines in use and you are talking about a humongous number.
Are Caffè di Artisan's coffee beans ethically sourced?
The Caffè di Artisan range includes Certified Fair Trade and organic coffees and we are committed to increase this proportion over time.
We see our role as facilitating coffee growing communities towards abundance and sustainable growing, across the several regions we source from – these regions are spread across the globe, from Ethiopia to Colombia to India. Some of our coffee beans are sourced directly from farmers and farming communities.
Where does Caffè di Artisan source its coffee beans from?
Caffè di Artisan uses a premium blend of Arabica coffee beans from Single Estates in the world's most renowned coffee-producing regions.

Are Caffè di Artisan's coffees Single Origins?
Yes! Coffee beans get most of their distinguishing characteristics from the coffee-growing regions where they are cultivated due to differences in soil, climate and elevation. But most coffees are a blend of beans from different growing regions around the world and the best beans are usually mixed with other varieties to lower the overall expense.
Caffè di Artisan provides distinctive single-origin coffees, each with a flavour unique to its origin and a taste of its own, exemplifying the best qualities of its plantation, terrain, region and flavours that are unique to the exact place where the coffee beans are grown.

Coffee does not agree with me...it causes acidity and gastric irritation. Can Caffè di Artisan's products do something about it?
So if you think that coffee gives you gastric problems, the trouble lies not in the coffee, but in the machine used to make it. The reason: all coffee machines degrade over time.

The important part: All these problems will be behind you with the pure, liquid, luxury coffee from Caffè di Artisan.
